Power Cord Adapters

Most Motorhomes, Travel Trailers, 5th Wheels, and Campers have either a 30 amp or 50 amp power cord that you can plug in at most commercial campgrounds. A 50 Amp RV plug has 4 prongs and 30 Amp plugs have 3. There are adapters availble to change what you have to fit the plug available. If there is 50 amp power available, and your rig is set up for 30 amp, simply plug in the adapter and plug in your coach. If your RV is equipped to be plugged in to 50Amp, you can also use an adapter, but will not be able to run 2 air conditioners at once. There are also adapters to step down to 20 amp, but this should only be used for very limited use of electricity.

RV Tips -- Personal Safety

Personal Safety

While it is never a pleasant subject, it is important to stay safe when you travel.

Always be aware of your surroundings.

Carry a pepper spray or an electronic attack alarm. The best that can happen in an bad situation, is to disorient an attacker and give you time to get away. A personal alarm can be carried easily and will  give out a short piercing sound.  Pepper spray, or Mace will temporarily disorient an attacker, giving you enough time to escape. 

Carry it somewhere where you can get to it quickly – don’t leave it buried at the bottom of your bag.  If you don’t have an alarm, just make a noise yourself by screaming as loud as you can, or shouting “call the police” – if you’re loud enough this can be just as effective as a personal alarm.
